Engineering & Experience

Engineered for Exploration

Stampr combines offline reliability with modern location technology to bring you a secure, private way to map your journeys. We respect your battery life, data plan, and privacy.

Privacy by Design

Control Your Data

Stampr puts you in complete control. We don't want your data, and we don't want to track you.

✓ Offline Maps: Download whole countries to your device for off-grid hiking.
✓ Personal Backups: Sync your passport directly to your own Google Drive or iCloud. We don't host your passport database.
✓ Dark Mode: Switch between light, dark, or system default themes instantly.

Optional Offline Maps

Stampr functions normally without offline maps when internet connectivity is available. For remote locations with poor or unavailable signal, you can optionally download offline maps to ensure seamless navigation. Downloading maps is not required for normal usage.

Privacy-First Architecture

Stampr is built to respect your privacy. When you collect a stamp, only your progress, brand totals, and achievement progress are updated. Friends can compare collection counts and achievements, but they can never view the individual locations you visited to earn them.

Cryptographic Identity

Your Passport is secured by an anonymous 256-bit cryptographic key pair generated locally on your phone (publicKey). No usernames, passwords, emails, or account registration needed.

Digital Passport & Heatmaps

View your lifetime passport stats, milestone streaks, travel heatmaps, and category breakdowns directly on your device. Backup your database anytime to your personal Google Drive or iCloud.

Battery-Friendly Tracking

Stampr only wakes up your GPS when you approach a physical location, saving your battery for the hike and ensuring your movements are never continuously tracked.

Friends Leaderboards

Connect with friends securely using QR code scanning, gallery image upload, manual friend code entry, or invite link sharing. Compare collection counts while ensuring your individual location history remains private.

Curated Real-World Locations

Stampr uses its own curated dataset of real places. Locations are reviewed, categorised, and validated to ensure your collections represent genuine discoveries.

Seasonal Events

Event database infrastructure and support are fully built into the platform. Seasonal Events bring limited-edition stamp collections, winter trails, and special campaign badges to your passport.
